Wink came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction. Thanks to the help of generous donors we were able to secure 12 dogs, now nicknamed the #darlingdozen.
Wink is a silly, happy, fun, and active girl. Wink is full of energy, is very outgoing, and is always on the go! She is a very curious girl who enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home and absolutely LOVES toys. She thinks everything she finds is a toy and is working on learning appropriate toys. Wink is a huge snuggler and seems to be most comfortable wherever her people are. She also will gently paw her people to be picked up and enjoys long naps on the couch with her foster dad. Wink loves everyone she meets and seems to gets along well with humans of all ages and dogs/cats of any size. She currently lives with cats and seems to do well with them. As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other pets and children in the household is a must and she should always be supervised when around other pets and children to make sure both she and they are kept safe.
Wink is currently doing well with potty training. A regular, consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able and willing to continue working on potty training with her. She has also done great with crate training and sleeps quietly in her kennel during the night or when her foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know danger and must be protected when her humans are not able to supervise her.
Medically, Wink is in good health. She has been spayed, has been updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, is microchipped and has been given the all clear for adoption by our veterinarian!
Wink would do well in almost any type of home. A fenced yard will be preferred for her, but it is not a requirement for adoption. Wink is sweet, outgoing, and loving girl and will do great in any home that can give her the attention and love she needs and deserves. She does great with stairs, up and down, so a home with stairs would be no problem for her. We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all - she's completely happy to sleep the day away in her crate as long she has a warm soft blanket and her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for her!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home or Wink please fill out an adoption application for her today!
NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application. We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. :-) Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another. We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
