Stella came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction. Thanks to the help of our generous supporters we were able to secure 16 dogs, now nicknamed the #SweetSixteen.
Stella is a French Bulldog/Boston Terrier Mix (confirmed through Embark DNA Test). She is an energetic, spunky, loving little girl who loves, walks, playtime, and snuggles (esp sleeping on the bed!). Basically anything to do with her people, she also loves to do. Be ready for a dog who loves to lay in your lap and follow you around the house! If her people happen to be busy she is just as happy laying in her dog bed and chewing on her bones. Her foster family reports that, so far, they haven’t had any issues with Stella chewing anything she isn’t supposed to. Stella can be shy and timid when meeting new dogs and people initially but seems to warm up quickly. She has shown no signs of aggression to the 2 resident frenchies even when playing with high value bones and during feeding times. Stella seems to love everyone she meets! In her foster home he is currently residing with one young (human) boy and two other dogs. The (human) boy in her home is very respectful to the dogs and Stella loves all the attention she receives from her 9-year-old buddy. As with all of our dogs, we always recommend slow introductions when introducing a new dog to the household.
Stella is doing great with potty training and is almost 100% housebroken! She even goes to the door when she needs to go out! You do have to watch her outside as it takes her awhile to actually go potty as she likes to roam and explore every square inch of the backyard until she feels it's time to do her business. While she has been doing wonderfully with going potty outside, a regular and consistent schedule will help with continued potty training in her new home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her. Stella seems like a very smart girl and she has also quickly learned a few basic commands like sit! She is great with crate training and usually sleeps quietly in her kennel for 6-7 hours during the day or when his foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised, so she is safe and secure while no one is home. Stella loves exploring, is very adventurous and loves to check on every square inch of her surroundings. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.
Medically, Stella seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Stella would do well in almost any type of home but since she loves to explore and is still working on perfecting potty training, a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her. However, a fenced yard is not a requirement for adoption as long as her new family can ensure she gets several potty break walks a day and can ensure she gets the daily exercise a normal puppy would require. We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! She loves to meet new people! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem - she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel as long as her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for her and she has a couple of bones to keep her busy! Stella is a sweet girl that is just looking for a forever home to call her own!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Stella, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
Stella's applications are currently under review.
We are no longer accepting applications for her at this time.
NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at LEAST a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application. We typically give a week for a "grace period" for new applications to come in on any newly available dog in order to give everyone a fair chance to submit an application. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at least a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another. We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
If you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
All adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
