Sophie was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled and live out her life as a cherished pet!
Sophie is a very happy, energetic, outgoing Frenchie. Be ready for playtime, walks and outside backyard time with this girl because she is not your typical couch potato French Bulldog! Sophie also decided she really enjoys a good 'Frenchie Find' shopping trip to her local TJ Maxx/Marshall's/Home Goods! She is a very active girl and loves to explore, play, and chew on her nylabones! Sophie seems to get along well with every human she meets, and has done really well with the other Frenchies in her home. She reacts out of fear with the bigger dog in the house and picks fights. She may be one of those 'breed snobs' who only likes other smushy faced dogs! Although an active girl, when it's time to settle down for the night she loves to cuddle!
Sophie is currently still working on potty training. While she has been doing wonderfully with going potty outside, a regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her. She has also done great with crate training and sleeps quietly in her kennel during the night (if she must... as she prefers the comforts of sleeping in bed with humans) or when her foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She is very ornery, curious and loves to explore. She WILL get into things if she is left unsupervised. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.
Medically, Sophie seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations, dewormings, had a dental and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Sophie would do well in almost any type of home but since she is still working on potty training, a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling with no yard). She does do very well with stairs and they do not seem to phase her one bit despite her petite size! We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! She loves to meet new people but do keep in mind her silly, ornery personality as she will absolutely need to be supervised when she is out and about! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem - she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel as long as she has a few nylabones to keep her busy and her people can arrange a mid day potty break for her! Again, she is an energetic, active, very playful Frenchie, and loves to play, run around the yard, explore and investigate what her people might be doing. She loves to bounce around the yard outside so, again, be ready for an active, outgoing, playful Frenchie if you apply for her!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Sophie, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
NOTE: Please note that it will likely be a 2-3 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application. We typically give a week for a "grace period" for new applications to come in on any newly available dog in order to give everyone a fair chance to submit an application. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. :-) Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another. We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)
