River found her way into the SNAFU rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled and live out her life as a cherished pet!

River is the perfect balance of active and laidback.  She is a playful, social, lighthearted, excitable, happy Frenchie girl who loves to snuggle her people and play with her furry friends. River can be shy when first meeting new people or new furry friends but it sure doesn’t last long!  Give her just a few minutes to warm up and she is off to the races!  You can often find her running zoomies all around the house or yard, grabbing any and every toy in her path and engaging her foster sibling in some fun gentle play.  When River tires herself out from so much play she is ready to settle down for a quick snooze.  Her absolute favorite place is on the lap of her humans.  She loves to be held, offered lots of attention and to cuddle.  She will stop immediately whatever she is doing if she finds her human with an open lap.  River will dash over, jump up, put her paws and head on her human as if she is hugging you.  It is about the sweetest thing you will ever see! Her shyness will surface when she is brought into new surroundings with new people.  She is looking for comfort and protection of her humans.  River will hide behind her foster mom or bark at the “intruder” to let them know she is present.  She will act submissive until she trusts the new person or dog and then it is playtime, snuggles and fun!  River currently lives with several furry foster siblings.  She has made fast friends with each of them and is learning quickly from shadowing them and mocking their behavior as to what it’s like to truly be a pet!  She is learning to share the attention offered to her furry friends.  If pets and scratchies are being offered elsewhere, she will insert her “booty bump” to move them out of the way so all the attention is on her.  River is experiencing a big transition and will need firm leadership, consistent correction to help her learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners and to know what is expected in her adoptive home.  She is smart, a fast learner and eager to please so we know River will be quick to adapt to pet life with the proper leadership!  River seems to get along well with every human (big or small) as she is quite spirited and feisty around her trusted people.  She is very excited when offering kisses and will start to gently use her teeth to offer her love.  Because of this her foster family believes she would be best in a home with dog-savvy, gentle, children 8 years or older.  We also feel she will flourish in a home with other furry members.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs and supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

River is doing extremely well potty training and her foster family reports she is 90% trained.  She quickly picked up going outside as she mimicked the other dogs in the home.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her, offering her a consistent schedule and work with her on a signal for potty.  River is 100% crate trained, has not had any accidents and sleeps quietly when his foster family happens to leave the home. She does not prefer her crate and reluctantly will go in and share her voice for her distaste for the time she spends in there but will calm down within minutes and snooze away.  We think, since River loves to cuddle and snuggle, that she would love to share a bed with her adoptive family as she does in foster home. For her safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule is kept for her as she doesn’t know danger.

Medically, River seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, heartworm tested and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

River would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to her quickness, her need to run zoomies, her love for the outdoors and her desire to use her voice (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling home with shared walls).  We also think River would love an active family with children to play with as she is ridiculously social and happy to be anywhere and everywhere her people are. She loves all people that will offer her attention.  River has bouts of separation anxiety (she loves her humans soooo much) and would thrive in a home with a work from home or a stay at home parent.  We also think she would love to go to the office with her new family!  She will happily sleep the day away in and office setting if she is offered her comfy bed or on a soft blanket and as long as her people are near.  Ultimately, River is a sweet, silly girl who will make any family happy.  She is a true velcro dog that loves the company of her humans and will reciprocate all the love and affection she is given.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for River, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.  We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog.  After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc.  :-)  Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.  We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete.   That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter.  In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply!  While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
