Myra came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased from a rehoming ad in order to ensure she found the best home possible for her forever home!
Myra is a sweet, curious, "old soul" type dog. She loves to explore and see new things and is always very interested in what her person is doing! She is a bit shy when she first meets new people, but quickly warms up. Her favorite past times include sniffing out the yard and finding out what fun toys bring! Myra has done well with other like size, and smaller, dogs in her foster home. She is a curious, outgoing gal so we believe she would do well with fur-siblings of any size after slow introductions. She does also peacefully reside with 2 cats. Myra seems to get along with every human she meets, including children.
Myra is currently still working on potty training and has made great strides. While she has been doing a great job with going potty outside, she is still learning and not quite a 100%. A regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with her. Myra just needs patience, persistence, a regular/consistent routine and most of all time to learn. She has also done very well with crate training and she will sleep quietly in her kennel during the night or when her foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know the dangers of a house hold quite yet and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.
Medically, Myra seems to be in great health! When she first came into rescue her nares were very pinched. She's had surgery to widen her nare openings to ensure she can breathe well. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/deworming’s, has had a dental and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!
Myra would do well in almost any type of home. A house with a fenced yard is preferred for her, but is not a requirement for adoption. We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! She loves to meet new people! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem - she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel as long as she has a couple of bones to keep her busy and her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Myra, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application. We typically give a week for a "grace period" for new applications to come in on any newly available dog in order to give everyone a fair chance to submit an application. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. :-) Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another. We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If, an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
