Meli came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction.

Meli is a super loving, happy, outgoing girl and has been doing great about adjusting very well to life as a pet in her foster home. She has a very sweet, calm personality but does love to go outside to play, explore and run.  Her favorite past time is just being held and snuggled by her people!  She seems to get along well with everyone she meets and does well with the other dogs in her foster home as well.

Meli is currently still working on potty training.  While she has been doing amazingly well with going potty outside, a regular, consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. She has also done great with crate training and sleeps quietly in her kennel during the night or when her foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home.  She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of and how to be a pet.

Medically, Meli seems to be in great health! She has no known health issues to date.  Meli has been spayed, had a dental and is updated on vaccinations/wormings and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian.

Meli would do well in almost any type of home but since she is still working on potty training, and does not know how to potty on a leash, a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling).  Also due to her size and her tiny, short, legs, she does not go up and down stairs at this point, but does seem to be willing to try going up from time to time!  If her forever family has stairs in their home, she will need to be carried up and down them.   If a prospective home has kids, a home with quiet children, respectful children will be preferred as she still gets scared easily around loud and very quick movements.  She is *not* fear aggressive AT ALL, she just runs away when she gets startled or nervous. We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. She is a quiet girl, and loves to just hang out near her people and while she's still a little nervous from time to time, she does very well with meeting new people. If her owners don't have the option of taking her with them, she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel!
