NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.  We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog.  After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc.  :-)  Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.  We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete.   That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter.  In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply!  While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

Lil Bit came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction. Thanks to the help of generous donors we were able to secure 12 dogs, now nicknamed the #darlingdozen.

Lil Bit is a happy and curious little girl. She loves going outside for a romp in the yard when it's nice weather out and her and her foster sister enjoy sunbathing and soaking up the sunshine. She loves to follow her foster family around the house and be right where they are. When it is playtime, she cautiously goes down the stairs and out the door, checks out the immediate area and then goes on out to the yard to explore.
She comes in when called and bounds up the 2 sets of stairs with ease. She hasn't quite figured out what exactly to do with toys yet, but her foster family is working on that with her. She LOVES to snuggle and she isn't picky on the partner. She adores her belly being rubbed and ear scratches. Nap time occurs whenever she finds a blanket or any piece of clothing or towel that happens to be laying on the floor to curl up on. She has also overtaken her foster sister's dog bed! Her fave place at night is in the crook of Foster Family's arm and she will stay in that position all night, if allowed!  Lil Bit gets along well with other dogs and seems to love everyone she meets, human or dog!  With her sweet and gentle disposition her foster family feels she would get a long just fine with cats, dogs, and children of any age.   As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household is a must and she should always be supervised when around children to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Lil Bit is currently still working on potty training. Although she has been doing really well, this world is new to her and a regular and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able and willing to continue working on potty training with her. In addition to her normal routine, her foster family makes sure to take her out immediately after she wakes in the morning and/or wakes up from a nap and within 30 minutes after eating. She receives immediate praise when she pottys outside. Lil Bit is crate trained and she quietly and comfortably sleeps the night away in her crate and she has not had one potty accident in her crate. Her foster family reports that Lil Bit sometimes whines a little when first enters the crate, but quickly settles down.  Often she is found laying in her crate for a daytime nap.  She also quite enjoys sleeping in her foster family's bed when they let her!  For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.

Medically, Lil Bit is in good health. She has been spayed, had a dental, has been updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, is microchipped and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Lil Bit would prefer a fenced yard, however an apartment would be just fine if she is taken out regularly using a harness and leash. She loves to walk and does really good on a leash. She does great with stairs, up and down, so a home with stairs would be no problem for her. Lil Bit is sweet, loving and will do great in any home that can give her the attention and love she needs and deserves. We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office! If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all - she's completely happy to sleep the day away in her crate as long she has a warm soft blanket and her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for her!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Lil Bit, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
