Gwen was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via a private party. Her owner was moving and unfortunately was unable to bring Gwen along.  Her family and wanted her to be placed in a loving home and to live out her retirement years.

Gwen is a typical loveable, laid back Bulldog. She is a huge sweetheart who is a bit lazy!  She has bursts of playful energy throughout the day but you can find Gwen napping most of the day.  She is very content to grab a snooze in the warm sunlight, on a soft surface, next to her foster family or her furry foster sibling.  Gwen enjoys nibbling on her favorite nylabones, snacktime and napping on any comfy spot (yes we said napping twice!).  She hasn’t quite taken to playing with toys (yet) as she would much rather bark at them than bat them around with her paws.  Gwen is VERY food motivated and will beg for treats, extra dog food and even human food.  Food is Gwen’s ultimate motivator!  Even though Gwen is never offered any human food she will incessantly beg trying to catch a crumb from the little hands in the home that may drop something of interest.  After some indoor excitement, you can find Gwen requesting butt scratches, more scratchies and then off to grab yet another snooze.  Gwen is the ultimate relaxed potato but don’t be fooled by her age as she is young at heart! She has a very sweet loving disposition and just wants to be adored and surrounded by her people and her furry friends. She currently lives with a few furry foster siblings (both a cat and dog) and they tolerate her inability to read their social cues. Gwen doesn’t know personal space and will need some guidance in that department. Even though Gwen has a great overall temperament, she can be a bit stubborn (typical Bulldog trait) so she will need just a little extra patience!   She is experiencing a big change and will need a patient and understanding family that is willing to offer her the space she needs to adjust into another new home and to learn what is expected of her in her adoptive home. We do think Gwen would love a balanced, furry playmate to help teach her how to play and enjoy the toys in the home.  She is cat friendly!  Gwen seems to get along well with every human she meets (both big and small).  She has a super gentle, kind and loving disposition and she truly does GREAT around children.  Because Gwen is calm and sweet, we think she would do wonderfully with children of any age who are calm, gentle and dog savvy.  As with all of our dogs, slow introductions to both other dogs and children are must to ensure everyone is kept safe.

Gwen is doing well with potty training. Her accidents are few and far between in her foster home because she is kept on a strict consistent outside schedule. Gwen’s adoptive family will need to be willing and able to keep her on a regular and consistent schedule for her continued potty training success.  She is very treat motivated (which is a huge help) and recently started to signal to potty by standing by the door.  She would greatly benefit from a signal for potty in her adoptive home. She has done great with crate training but is often trusted in a dog safe space for short periods of time.  She is trusted in her foster home in a small gated area as she does not engage in ANY inappropriate chewing or has any destructive tendencies. She will sleep quietly in her own space during the day when his foster family happens to leave the home. Given Gwen loves soft comfy spots, she would love nothing more than to have her special area appointed with a soft bed and blanket. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of her inside the home.

Medically, Gwen seems to be in good health.   She has been spayed, had a dental, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, is microchipped and has been given the ok for adoption by our veterinarian! Gwen does suffer from those pesky Bulldog allergies.  Her allergies are controlled by a daily allergy pill, cytopoint during high allergy months and is kept on a restrictive diet.  She also receives a daily joint supplement to help keep her joints lubricated as she ages.

Gwen would do well in almost any type of home but a house with a yard (a fence is NOT required for Gwen) and a home with little to no stairs will be preferred for her (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling with many stairs).  Gwen is able to do a few stairs (she is not afraid of them, just not great with them).  She is not an apartment friendly dog as she can get quite vocal when she is playing or when she wants a treat (which is quite often).  She would prefer a family that is looking to relax with her, offer her regular potty breaks and unlimited pets/scratchies.  Gwen does like to show off her leash skills but requests her walks are short and sweet; just like her! She is also looking for a family that isn’t always on the go, one that likes to watch TV in the evenings and one that can offer her many calorie friendly snacks!   We think she'd love to go to work with her new family as Gwen enjoys riding in the car and prefers being around her people as long as the office environment is quiet.  You are not able to take her to work -no problem!  Gwen would very much like a work from home/stay at home family member as she very much enjoys the comfort of her space at home.  She is completely happy sleeping the day away as long as her people can arrange a potty break for her and allow some extra time for a few butt scratches!  Gwen is a very adaptable pup and would do wonderfully with a family, a single or a couple as long as they can spare the time she requires to be happy and well taken care of.

Gwen is a super sweet girl who is slowing down her lifestyle and is looking for a family to call her very own!  If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for her, please submit an adoption application for Gwen today!!

NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.  We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog.  After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc.  :-)  Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.  We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete.   That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter.  In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply!  While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
