Emma came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction.
Emma is a super loving, happy, outgoing girl and has been doing great about adjusting very well to life as a pet in her foster home. She seems to get along well with everyone she meets and does well with the other dogs in her foster home.
Emma is currently still working on potty training. While she has been doing well with going potty outside, a regular, consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home. She has also done great with crate training and sleeps quietly in her kennel during the night or when her foster family happens to leave the home. For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home. She does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of and how to be a pet.
Medically, Emma seems to be in great health! As with many Bulldogs, Emma does seem to have dry eyes, especially in her left eye. This is her only known "issue". Due to her living in a commercial breeder kennel and not receiving any maintenance for her dry eyes, she does have some mild scarring over her corneas and may have more limited vision in her left eye. She is currently being treated for an ulcer in her left eye and will need eye drops on a daily basis for the rest of her life due to her dry eye. She is SUPER great about receiving her eye drops though and just patiently waits for her foster mom to put them in and then goes about her day! She will be spayed, have a dental and be updated on vaccinations/wormings before she is ready for adoption.
Emma would do well in almost any type of home but since she is still working on potty training, and does not know how to potty on a leash, a house with a fenced yard will be preferred for her (opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling). She is still learning to go up and down stairs, but already seems to be willing to try them! We also think she'd love to go work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office. She is a quiet girl, and loves to just hang out near her people! If not, she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel!
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Emma, please watch for her to move to the Available Dogs page and fill out an adoption application for her at that time!
