UPDATE: June, 2015 - Dreamer has been adopted in NE!

Our wonderful little girl, Dreamer, is living it up in Nebraska!  She is now known as Barbra Walters is the only doggie in her new home. She gets to be the center of attention, just how she likes it!! She LOVES her attention and is such a sweetheart! She loves other dogs, but she just happened to get to be an "only" in her new home.. don't worry though! She still gets play dates from time to time with others. :-)  She has been nothing but loved and spoiled since her new people adopted her. She even gets to go to work with her new mom sometimes!!  Her new family has experience managing allergies in humans and dogs, so she can remain itchy free and be the happy little girl we all  know her to be.  Just look at her smile in her photos and you know she is loving the life of the cherished pet she never knew she could be before now. <3

Congrats to Dreamer and her new family!!

Dreamer came into SNAFU Rescue after being purchased at a commercial breeder dog auction.  We knew she needed some TLC as she had a very large growth or inguinal hernia (we weren't sure yet at the time), had infected looking facial wrinkles and signs of allergies (swollen ears and growths in her ears). Luckily, her dreams came true and we ended up being able to purchase her, instead of another commercial breeder, so that she could get the love and care she deserves.

As stated, Dreamer came to us in need of some medical care.  Despite not feeling so great initially, she has been a joy to foster and she LOVES people, which is not always typical of dogs coming directly out of the commercial breeding system.  She has had two (bilateral) inguinal hernias fixed while in our care. The one on her left side, which gave us so much concern at the auction, was so large that our vets were able to spay her through that space before fixing it up!  She also tested Heartworm negative (yay!), and has been updated on her vaccinations/dewormings.  She is still having a few issues with her ears, and she is being treated for a pretty severe ear infection currently. We also suspect her to have allergies, so we will be addressing those with our vets after she is treated for her ear infection.  It should be noted that while she is available for adoption, she will not be able to transfer to her new home until we have sorted out her ear situation.  We do our best to make sure our doggies are in tip top shape before they leave our care!

As stated before, she seems to love everyone she meets and loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home.  While she has never started a fight, she will stand up for herself if challenged and she seems to do best with other submissive, non bullying dogs like herself.  We can't say we blame her!  She does not currently live with children, she has met a few older kids and we think she would do great with gentle children.

Dreamer is currently still working on potty training, and she has been doing great with it while in her foster home.  Each time she is let outside, she has done an amazing job about doing her business in a timely manner.  A regular schedule, consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training in her new home.   She seems to be crate trained and will go right into her kennel for a tasty treat! For her safety, we recommend that she keep a similar crating schedule when her humans are away from the home and/or she is left unsupervised so she is safe and secure while no one is home/while no one is watching her.  She does not know danger and while she has been doing absolutely great, she is still learning the ways of being a household pet.

Dreamer would do well in almost any type of home!  She is learning stairs like a champ and goes up and down the few stairs in her foster home wonderfully.  Since she loves everyone, we also think she'd love to go work with her new family, if they wanted to take her with them to the office.  If not, she's completely happy sleeping the day away in her kennel!
