Dopey was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via breeder release.  His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled and live out his life as a cherished pet!

Dopey is a happy playful puppy who loves anyone and everyone.  He got his name because he is just a happy go lucky, silly, goofy, dopey, clumsy puppy.  You wouldn't know anything was wrong with him until a vet listened to his little heart during a physical examination.  He was diagnosed with a grade 4 heart murmur so was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue for help in finding a wonderful home for him despite the fact that his heart may need some extra monitoring by a cardiologist throughout his lifetime.  Dopey loves *everyone* he meets including cats/kitties, kids, and he especially loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home.  He is great with gentle children, under supervision (he is a puppy, so as with any dog should always supervised when he is around kids, to make sure he is kept safe).

Dopey is currently working on potty training and while he is not 100% yet, he has been making great progress!  A regular schedule, consistent schedule will help with his continued potty training in his new home.   Since he does well in his crate, we recommend that he keep a similar crating schedule when his humans are away from the home so he is safe and secure while no one is home.  He does not know danger and what is okay and not okay to chew on at this point!

Medically, Dopey is in good health other than a grade 4 heart murmur, which is the reason he came into our rescue.  He has had an echocardiogram (ultrasound) done on his heart, and while no holes or deformities are present in his heart, he has been diagnosed with a defect: Pulmonary Stenosis, a thickening of the tissue around one valve of his heart, which causes his heart to beat with an irregularity.  He does not need any type of heart medication at this time and shows no symptoms (fatigue, fainting, etc) of having any issues with his heart at this time. He is a happy, active puppy, but his heart should definitely be monitored by a veterinarian and cardiologist as he continues to grow.  The Pulmonary Stenosis could possibly cause his heart to weaken as he ages, so heart medication may benefit him at at later date. Alternatively, he may never had additional issues with it.  Since his lifespan could be shorter than a "regular" dog, we want him to have the best life he could possibly have, but that goes for all of our foster dogs, of course! We will be very strict with "vetting" any potential adopters for him, as we want to make sure he is very loved and has the best life and care (both in home care and vet care) that he possibly can during his lifetime.

Dopey has no other known health issues.  He has been neutered and is UTD on all of is vaccinations/wormings.

Dopey would do well in almost any type of home. He goes up and down stairs like a champ and has no issues with them.  We also think he'd do fine if his new family wanted to take him with them to the office.  If not, he's completely happy sleeping the day away in his kennel!

Dopey is a very active, energetic puppy, so please be ready for the needs and care of a puppy if you think he will make a good addition to your family! If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Dopey please fill out an adoption application for him today!
