NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.  We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog.  After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc.  :-)  Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.  We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete.   That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter.  In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply!  While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

Claude was surrendered to SNAFU Rescue via a private party. His owner no longer could provide proper care and wanted him to be placed in a loving home and to live out his life as a spoiled and loved member of a family.

Claude is a handsome, sweet, silly, stubborn French bulldog who loves to love and follow his beloved humans wherever they go! He has a ton of love and joy to give his forever family. He relentlessly begs for pets and give his favorite humans lots of kisses. His tongue can hardly stay in his mouth! Claude is still 100% puppy and has so much energy to share with those he loves the most! Claude’s favorite activities are playing with stuffed toys, sunning his bulldog buns on the deck, serving as neighborhood watch, begging for attention and getting treats. But by evening, he is happy to be cuddled next to his people on the couch watching TV. He is truly a little cuddle bug when not being a wiggle worm! Claude is learning the ways of pet life and has made such great improvements in a short amount of time. We think Claude would enjoy an active family with or without children. However, given his playful nature and tendency to view fingers as chew toys and his love for giving kisses, he would do best in a home with children who are older and dog savvy enough to help correct this behavior. Because Claude is undergoing such a big transition, we feel he would do best in a home with children over 12 who are calm and dog savvy.  He comes off a little shy when first meeting new people or dogs. He can be a bit overwhelmed by new people and animals, but when he does get comfy; boy, oh, boy does he love you! However, Claude is slowly learning where he fits in a pack. He has gotten along very well in his foster home with his easy going, submissive French bulldog foster sister, but has had some issues with his bigger, alpha English foster sis. Most of these issues occurred during times when he was experiencing painful ear swelling. He has started scuffles with a visiting male pug and does not seem to like male dogs. We feel Claude would thrive in a home where he is the only dog. He perhaps could cohabitate with a female dog who is well balanced, easy going and submissive. Claude can get along with other dogs, but slow introductions will be an absolute must for him as he is picky with his dog friends.  He has not been around cats, but given his goofy disposition, we feel he would do best in a home with no cats or with cats who have separate living spaces from the resident dogs. Claude has shown some resource guarding with food and human attention. He is corrected when this behavior occurs, but potential adopters must be willing to exercise firm, consistent leadership to address this behavior and help him acclimate to life as a pet. Again, slow intros will be absolutely required to help Claude integrate in to his forever family!

Claude has done incredibly well with potty training but like most young dogs it continues to be a work in progress! His foster family reports he is about 80% potty trained. Claude has quickly picked up on going outside to potty. He has never had an accident in his crate. He makes it clear he is not a fan of the cold, snowy or rainy Midwest winters, so needs a little extra encouragement to go outside in the chill. As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty. Claude is rewarded with treats for entering his crate and we recommended that his adoptive family continuing crating Claude until he is 100% potty trained and for his own safety. He does not know danger and is still learning how to be a pet, so it is imperative he be kept safe during his family’s time away.  Claude will chew on various items and have accidents if left unsupervised. He has also done well with being crated in a larger room like kitchen or laundry room that will allow him a bit of space to roam but keep him safe from any danger.

Medically, Claude is in good shape! Claude entered rescue with cauliflower ears that were caused from painful ear swelling/infection that went untreated. It currently does not bother him and does not cause any issues for him at this time. His future family will want to pay special/close attention to keeping his ears clean to avoid any ongoing issues. Claude has a cleft palate but it was determined it is not impacting his quality of life (eating/drinking) so no repair is necessary at this time. He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/deworming, is microchipped and been given a clean bill of health for adoption by our veterinarian. Claude seems to have some pesky Frenchie seasonal allergies. A cytopoint injection and daily allergy meds would serve him well during those high allergy months.

Claude loves to sing you the song of his people! Because he is a master barker, we feel Claude would do best in a home rather than an apartment style dwelling. He loves to go for walks showing off his leash skills and spending lots of time outside! He is the perfect camping buddy! Claude continues to work on perfecting his leash manners and would relish a home that has the chance to work with him to perfect the art of walking and help him burn off excess puppy energy! He would do best in a home with a fenced in yard as he is still potty training and has the propensity to run towards neighborhood passerby's. Claude has been reactive to other dogs and humans on his walks, but is quickly and easily corrected.  We think he’d love to go to work with his new family as Claude enjoys a car ride and being the center of human attention! A car seat will be a must for Claude as he is so excited in the car! If not, Claude is content staying home to keep an eye on things as long as he has a soft cozy bed and Nylabone or puzzle toy to keep him occupied.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for major hunk Claude, please submit an adoption application for him today!!
