NOTE: Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3-4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.  We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog.  After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc.  :-)  Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.  We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete.   That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not. :-)

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don't feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter.  In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue. :-)

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog's foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply!  While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter can not keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

Astrid found her way into SNAFU via a private party. Her family wanted her to be placed in a loving pet home to be spoiled, loved and live out her life as a cherished pet!

Astrid is an active, playful, attention seeking, social, energetic, outgoing and friendly Pug.  She enjoys romping around the house and exploring every inch of her surroundings.  She runs around the furniture like it is placed pawfectly for her own obstacle course use!  Astrid has an affinity for the outdoors and often requests time outside to take in all the smells.  She loves to chase squirrels and wrestle around with the leaves floating across the grass. Most of her outdoor and indoor time is spent playing a game of chase with her furry foster brother.  When her best friend is tired of her shenanigans, Astrid will find some mischief and search around the home for items that are NOT Astrid friendly (socks, shoes and toilet paper are her go to’s).  She must be supervised at all times as Astrid is still learning proper dog manners and what items are dog friendly.  Once she notices her foster brother is awake, she will again pester him for more play time!  Yes, Astrid is all play, play and more play!  Once the fun and excitement is over, she will search for her beloved bone and snuggle up in any comfy spot she can find for a much needed nap.  Astrid will always look for her people or her furry pal to partake in a cuddle session during her snooze.  She truly just wants to be with her people all the time as she finds comfort in their presence and the attention she is offered.  After a much needed puppy nap, she is off circling the house following her foster sibling around, mimicking their behaviors and stealing their toys.  Astrid’s overall fun, happy disposition allows her to get along with his furry foster siblings that are similar in size.  She has a very lovable and silly temperament which is favorable when she is around other dogs. She has yet to meet any human, big or small, that she hasn’t fallen head over paws for (she is a bit nervous at first around loud, active children but relaxes pretty quickly).  Because of her lighthearted disposition, we feel Astrid will do perfectly well with smaller dogs and with dog savvy, gentle, respectful children of any age.  Astrid is still a young puppy and she comes with all the puppy tendencies; finger nibbles, jumping, etc.  She is in need of some basic puppy training to learn what is expected of her in the home.  We also feel Astrid would thrive in a multi-dog household as she emulates other dog behaviors and picks up quickly on what is expected in the home and proper dog manners.  No cats, birds or other small animals for this girl… she has quite the prey drive!  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household is a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Astrid is still working on potty training.  She is progressing but will need a consistent schedule to help.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to her new home and surroundings. Astrid is in need of an outside routine, positive reinforcement and a signal for potty (she is doing really well bell training and it is suggested to continue with this method).  She is 100% crate trained and does not have any accidents in her crate.  She sleeps quietly (after a little cry of course) when her foster family happens to be away from the home and adorably will rest her little head on a comfy blanket.  Astrid does sleep in her crate in the evening but would much rather share a bed and offer snuggles to her new family!

Medically, Astrid is in great health!  She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Astrid would do great in any type of home since she does well at going up and down small amounts of stairs  Since she does love to explore the yard, likes to sun her puggy buns, has a tendency to run and play, a house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling).  An apartment with a ground level unit with a fenced yard would be okay for Astrid.  She is in need of space to let her energy out!  Since Astrid is quite a people's Pug, we think she would love to eventually go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office.  She is in need of some basic training before entering the work space but with some consistent work she would do just fine (eventually)!  If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all - she's completely happy sleeping the day away as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry friend or two and her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break or two for her!  Astrid is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has an active family to dote on her, can be included in most family outdoor activities, can offer her the exercise she desires and lots of love and attention. Astrid is such a goofy little girl that will offer a family so much joy, love and happiness.  Please be prepared for the ongoing care requirements that are needed to take care of a young dog.  Astrid is full of energy and needs a family that is willing and able to match her levels!

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Astrid, please submit an adoption application for her today.
